About Mary Baker

Mary Baker is a contemporary realistic oil painter. Fascinated by Contemporary Realism, Mary studied with internationally renowned, representational artist Steve Hawley. She also received a bachelors degree in art and art history as well as a masters degree in painting. The skill and attention to detail in Mary's artwork is a reflection of her years of art education. Mary Baker's tasteful and perceptive art work is for the discriminating buyer.

Mary Baker has been represented in New York City by the Mussavi Gallery in Soho, Grand Central Art Galleries on 57th Street and the Hoorn-Ashby Gallery on Madison Avenue. She has shown in the prestigious Sherry French Gallery in Chelsea, in New York City. The artist has also had shows up and down the East Coast and is in public and private collections throughout the United States.

Mary was born and raised in New York City. Part of Mary Baker's art education has been the hundred's of hours that she has spent in New York City's many art museums and art galleries. This distinct art education gave Mary Baker a sophisticated and cultured understanding of the mystery of art.

Mary's artist's studio is located in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This charming, historic seaport city, north of Boston, with its gardens, flowers, landscapes and antique houses, has been the inspiration for the artist's realistic paintings.
